Harbour Department,
Hong Kong, 31st March 1892,
I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter #065 dated the 20th instant.
2. I beg to thank His Excellency the Governor for having acceded to the request made in the third paragraph of my letter #183 dated the 24th instant. I was induced to make it in the hope that by extra labour I might earn additional remuneration.
3. No efforts shall be spared on my part to discharge the dull duties, efficiently and to the satisfaction of the Government and the Harbour Master. Should my exertions meet with His Excellency's approval, I can only hope that hereafter he may see his way to allowing me such salary as the regulations of the Service may permit of.
I have,
